Raul Astorga

Co-Owner and Coach of Iron Made Athletics

He grew up in Colorado. Section 8 housing. Scarcity was the baseline, not a phase.

At 18, he walked into a gym with no real foundation and figured it out the hard way. The mistakes came first. The understanding came after. That process taught him something that had nothing to do with fitness — real life works the same way. You don't build by avoiding the hard parts. You build by understanding them.

What started as wanting to feel comfortable in his own body became something larger. The work you put into developing physically gives back in ways that extend far beyond the gym. Health. Longevity. A reduced risk of the things that take people out early. When you unlock that level of effort, it keeps returning to you.

Eight years in behavioral health reinforced what the gym had already shown him: understanding what's actually happening comes before anything else.

Zadok Ladegard

Grew up in survival mode. Raised in poverty, moving when rent ran out, watching addiction take the people closest to him. The world didn't wait for him to be ready. So he stopped waiting.

He became the first person in two generations of his family without a criminal record or addiction. Not because conditions were ideal. Because he decided they didn't get to define him.

He found fitness early. Wrestling, running, lifting — the harder he worked, the more himself he felt. Served in the Marines. Worked in healthcare, labor, customer service. Nothing fit until coaching.
